All four games are about laying out a deck by the rules, but they feel very different to play. Here's a quick comparison to help you pick one for your mood and free time.
Klondike
A balance of luck and skill. Some cards start face down, so the outcome depends on both the deal and your moves. The best choice for getting started and for a relaxed, familiar game.
Spider (1 suit)
The longest game of the four. With so many cards and columns, you need to keep several lines of play in mind at once. The one-suit version is much friendlier than two or four suits.
FreeCell
The whole board is face up from the start, and nearly every deal can be solved. It's a game of planning: less luck, more logic.
Pyramid
The fastest and most meditative. The rule is simple — pairs that sum to 13 — but without the right moves the pyramid quickly hits a dead end. Great on a phone.
Which Solitaire Should You Choose?
If it's been a while since you played — start with Klondike. It's the definitive solitaire: the rules come back to you in a minute, and the pace is comfortable.
If you feel like thinking — go for FreeCell. The whole board is face up, almost every deal is solvable, and winning comes down to your strategy rather than luck.
If you have time for a long game — that's Spider. It's harder and demands more focus, but clearing the board feels all the more satisfying.
If you only have a couple of minutes — open Pyramid. Short rounds, a simple rule and a pleasant rhythm for a break during the day.
